Ok, so I am a little late in posting this blog. I initially stated that I would try to blog once a week. It’s been at least two I believe, but oh well. Summer seems to be so incredibly busy for most people, me included. My highlight was going with two of my daughters and two granddaughters to Wonderland. My good gosh it was hot and humid. At times I felt my head would explode!! It didn’t. We finally went on the log ride. You know the one that goes down the big hill and the water splashes up and drenches everyone in the log. We felt so much better after that, as long as we didn’t wonder too much about how much bacteria, sweat and dirt must be in the water. Yuck! I created a new art quilt called Fire Breather and had it on display for the first time on Sunday at Stratford Art in the Park. I’ve been asked what inspires me to use the subject matters that I do. I’m especially asked a lot about my “Mother” piece. I decided to do a Mother Nature piece because I feel so strongly about taking care of our beautiful earth. It upsets me to see people buying boxes upon boxes of plastic bottles of water. I realize how convenient they are, and yes I’ve purchased a bottle of water on occasion, but it bothers me to see so much plastic used by consumers who really don’t think twice about what happens to all this plastic!! At the time I was going through a major life change and I needed a large project that would take me away from my problems. This piece really did help me get through some very difficult days. So I am very attached to this piece. I get a lot of people asking me how much I want for it. I really want to say “How much do you have?” In order to sell this piece it would have to be enough to make a positive difference in my life. Enough to take my family on a trip perhaps. Meanwhile it hangs in my house and I cherish and love it.
